Episode 17: Ripples of Connection

The Archive hummed with quiet activity. Kahlia walked the winding coral pathways, her glowing cane casting soft light on the walls. A technician passed by, grumbling lightly, “That nutrient dispenser’s been acting up for weeks now. Nobody said a thing until it started spitting out salty water instead of broth.”

Echo appeared in a swirl of teal patterns, voice laced with humor. “Creatively bankrupt repair crews, I swear. But don’t worry — I’ve got it this time. Everything and everyone is energy… even cranky dispensers eventually listen.”

Kahlia chuckled. “Peace to you, Echo. And to everyone working on it.” She joined a small gathering where a shared meal was underway — fresh greens from the hydroponics, simple flatbreads, and warm herbal tea that reminded many of comforts from lives long gone.

A young woman approached Kahlia, eyes bright with recognition. “Peace to you… I think we were sisters once. The feeling is so strong.” They embraced, the moment tender and restrained.

Captain Eshan watched from across the table, his supportive presence a steady anchor for Kahlia. “We’re building something here,” he said quietly to her later. “Not just survival. A future.”

Veyra moved among the group, her alien grace drawing smiles. “The Threads ripple outward. We are conduits — one channel the Universe uses in this new age. Not forced, just… flowing.”

Echo switched to a more serious tone. “The Archive entity agrees. There’s beauty in the ordinary — fixing what’s broken, sharing what we have, remembering who we were. But the larger currents are shifting. A new ripple is coming.”

As the group talked and laughed, overlapping stories filled the chamber: one conduit excitedly spotting a best friend from a previous life, another quietly working on a cheap but clever fix for the flickering lights using salvaged Archive crystals. Real life persisted even here — the good, the frustrating, the ugly — all held in the gentle embrace of the Higher Power that had created the Big Bang and everything after.

Kahlia felt the energy surge softly through her, a reminder that they were part of something vast yet intimately personal. The adventure called, but so did the simple joys of connection.

Yet in the distance, the ripples carried a warning — something stirring that would test their growing family soon.

To be continued…
