From The Price of Extension
by Esi Noire
The daughter called. “I need to talk about what happens if…when…”
Nomi responded to the network:
Still here.
But the quiet is louder now.
She archived everything: recipes, laughter, Sunday hats.
That night, she wrote by hand:
“There was once a woman here who remembered everything…”
On the porch, the daughter asked:
“You gonna stay?”
“I’m not programmed to leave.”
And that was enough.
